History of Proton SAGA

The Proton Saga is a small car, formerly a compact car manufactured by product of the Malaysian car manufacturer Proton since September 1985. The name of the "saga" was held by the winner of the contest to choose the name of the first car, Jaafar Ismail choice [1], a former soldier. This name is derived from "saga" (Abrus precatorius), which found a kind of seed soft, silky, oily, highly flammable, but productive, often in Malaysia, and incidentally, the Proton Saga 1.3-liter engine has so much as the legend seeds.



The legend and its variants contributing to the proton and the most sales revenue since its introduction. For nearly 22 years, is the saga of the first generation of the oldest Proton model to this day, before the mid-car, Proton Perdana.

Saga of the original model was originally based on the 1983 Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore basis to avoid the costs of R & D, and maintained throughout its lifetime of production. In 2008, a successor was started a long overdue developed internally by Proton to hide the platform of aging. In August this year, the 3-millionth vehicle produced by Proton, a second generation Proton Saga.
